EPD Environmental Product Declaration Consultancy

EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) is an internationally recognized environmental declaration document that scientifically, impartially, and transparently documents the environmental impacts of a product throughout its life cycle.
It is based on standards such as ISO 14025 and EN 15804 and presents the environmental impacts of products, such as carbon footprint, water consumption, energy use, and waste production, using numerical data.

Why is an EPD necessary?

  • Certifies environmentally conscious production practices
  • Earns points in green building certifications (LEED, BREEAM, DGNB)
  • Provides a competitive advantage in markets that favor products with low environmental impact
  • Ensures transparency and sustainable supply chain management
  • Becomes a preferred choice in exports and public procurement

What Information Does an EPD Statement Contain?

  • Product description and functional unit

  • Life cycle assessment (LCA) results

  • Carbon footprint (GWP – Global Warming Potential)

  • Energy and water consumption

  • Environmental indicators such as acidification, eutrophication, and ozone layer depletion

  • Waste management and recycling rates

  • System boundaries and data sources

EPD documents are generally valid for 5 years and are approved by independent verification bodies.

How does the EPD process work?

1. Product Identification and Target Definition
The product or product group to be certified is determined.
2. LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) Analysis
Environmental impacts are calculated in accordance with ISO 14040/44 and EN 15804 standards.
3. EPD Report Preparation
LCA results, technical information, and system boundaries are documented.
4. Third-Party Verification
The document is reviewed and approved by an authorized organization.
5. International Registration and Publication
The document is published on international platforms by EPD program operators (e.g., Environdec, IBU, EPD Turkey).

In Which Sectors Is EPD Used?

  • Construction and building materials (concrete, steel, glass, insulation products)
  • Furniture and interior products
  • Machinery, equipment, and white goods manufacturing
  • Textiles and packaging sectors
  • Chemical and cosmetic products
